USA2OZ, LLC offer Pre-collection inspection & photography, Inland USA transportation to packers/loaders/port handlers - which is invoiced according to distances involved. USA2OZ negotiate with the selling party, with your prior approval and/or direction. (private or commercial) We Can also act as an intermediary for funds transfers, if required - facilitating a safer transaction between parties.
Our company removes the stresses associated with the processes involved with importing items from the United States! We take the role of ‘Buyer’s Representative’ and communicate with the sellers, Dealers and Logistics processing companies on your behalf and maintain thorough and regular communications with you - the buyer at all times. In effect the only things you need to do yourself is decide on a suitable item and ensure that the transactions are able to be completed, when needed.
Container Shipping
Container shipping is usually offered for small-Boats/trailers/parts, Autos/parts, Pop-up Campers, Motorcycles, Steel Shelving, Fishing Equipment, Fiberglass, Agricultural Machinery, Jet Skis, Personal Effects, etc.
Ro Ro Shipping
Ro Ro (Roll On, Roll Off) Shipping is for larger items that cannot fit into a 20’, 40’ or 40’HC (High Cube) container. This service is used for larger boats, cruisers, yachts trucks, Fifth - Wheel campers, motorhomes, and other similarly large product.
Logistics Management & Container Pricing
Logistics Company
Logistics Management Includes the container services, preparation, etc. handling of paperwork for Customs, Dept. Homeland Security and other Gov’t security/monitoring agencies in America.
Costing varies can vary on actual, physical dimensions and weight of the items being shipped. However you can expect the following on base container rates leaving from the Southern and East Coast (Savannah, GA New York, NY) - which does not include the preparation, crating/racking and loading of containers - never usually all that much in the grand scheme of things… Use the following as a basis… Renegotiated often..
Insurance: USD$ 1.35/USD$100 of value. Insurance coverage is for 110% of actual invoice value.
PACKING, CLEANING, CRATING AND OTHER PREPARATION
Is usually determined by the ‘actual physical’ dimensions and type of freight and what is involved for sea freight preparation and is generally provided with the logistics company quotation on top of the base container rate. (This is not generally a significant cost)
Services include, however not limited to; Cleaning, Heat - Shrink wrapping, component dismantling, storage, cradle manufacture, bracing, container loading, transport to port and port paperwork and communications
AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS, AQIS & CLEARANCES
AQIS (Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service), Customs and Clearances Specialists (CCS): Our Tullamarine, Melbourne - based Customs and Clearances Specialist manages the entire process - Australia - Wide for receiving your product into the country and getting it through AQIS with the least amount of ‘issues’ possible, then arranges for the delivery to your (metro) home, or other stated address, wherever practical.
Their fees generally include all AQIS “general” inspections, fees and services and everything else that is pivotal to the clearing process and will also include local metro delivery.
There is potential for a quoted price to differ from the final actual price! That is if AQIS deems the item imported needs a thorough inspection and commercial cleaning. No-one other than AQIS has control of that happening.
Outside metro delivery usually requires separate quote from CCS. ‘New’ items usually avoid detailed inspections, bonding, ect. Again, that is entirely up to Customs/AQIS.
The Australian Government
Of course the Aussie Government takes their cut, which is on top of their customs and processing fees.
GST ‘is’ charged on the CIF invoiced rate of the product imported. As there is a Free Trade Agreement between Australia and the USA, there will be NO duties imposed as long as the goods have a manufacturing origin stated as “USA, US, America” or such similar markings - supplied preferably by the manufacturer.
TRAILER IMPORT PERMIT
If the vessel you’re bringing into Australia has a trailer built to American standards you will need to apply for a trailer import permit (around AUD$50 I believe at last check) BEFORE THE BOAT LANDS IN AUSTRALIA! It can take up to 6 weeks to be granted a trailer import permit, so that process needs to be started as soon as you know you’re going to be importing your boat/trailer.
(USA2OZ can supply American built, Australian Specification trailers to custom-suit your specified vessel! - though you will still need the trailer import permit) We can supply you with the paperwork and links. We’ll also save you a heap of money when compared to buying a trailer in Australia.
Marine Surveyor
If chosen: Of course, if you choose, you can have a completely independent Marine Surveyor thoroughly check over the craft for defects. This is a ‘passed on cost’ which is billed to you directly by the surveyor. On average We have found good Marine Surveyors to charge from $15/$35 per foot of boat length. Marine Surveyors can be a good safeguard investment in your boat purchase. Although not all of our clients take up the opportunity to have their prospective boat inspected, it can be a good option choice. Having stated this, to date, we have not experienced unexpected issues with any of the craft we have exported to Australia.
